Allison Hesberg Nutrition
I’m Allison Hesberg, a registered dietitian specializing in grief informed functional nutrition care. Grief is not reserved for those of us who’ve lost loved ones, it can show up after major life transitions, which also feel like loss. A career change, menopause, eating disorder recovery, divorce, and loss of a pregnancy are just a few examples of when one might experience grief.
These major life transitions that involve a change in identity can feel shattering. It's a time of mystery, feeling unclear about what comes next, and sometimes not knowing what to do or how to go on from here. You might exist in a new body that feels unfamiliar and disconnected, perhaps feelings like you don’t know how to care for her.
Culture in general and, more specifically wellness culture, is hyper aware of caring for oneself during the good times. There’s an abundance of attention paid to those in phases of weight loss, preconception, and wedding prep, it’s fun to talk about those things. What about after your world shakes, who pays attention to you then?
These shifts are disorienting, figuring out how to nourish yourself through the emotional and physiological shifts is hard. Like those other phases of life, grieving brings on major hormonal and metabolic shifts. I’ve cared deeply about learning how to nourish my body throughout the different life stages. I’ve gained an immense amount of knowledge in my career as a dietitian and personal study related to weight loss, disease prevention, hormone support, eating disorder recovery and preconception. But nourishing myself after experiencing two pregnancy losses and the death of my father at age 28 was completely untouched territory. I realized how few spaces exist for women to feel supported - not just emotionally, but physically - during times of profound change.
My practice was born from that need: to help women restore their hormonal and metabolic health after loss or life transitions, and to feel safe and whole in their bodies again. I use a blend of functional nutrition, therapeutic rituals, and emotionally attuned support to guide women through their healing process and life transitions.Whether you’re navigating a miscarriage, the loss of a loved one, or a shift in identity that’s left you feeling unmoored — you deserve care that honors both your biochemistry and your lived experience. That’s what I’m here for.
